Nebraska Football has some big-time players coming in on the line.
All last season, me and all of you were complaining about the lack of a line and how that affected the quarterback. When you stop and look at who is coming to help the line, brighter days are ahead. Earlier this week, Nebraska football get a commitment from offensive tackle Branson Yeager.
Yeager measures in at 6-foot-7, 332 pounds. When you combine that with Henry Lutovsky (6-6, 330 pounds) and Teddy Prochazka (6-8, 290), there is definitely some size on the line for the future. This may seem contradictory to what I wrote earlier. Earlier in the day, I wrote that the 2021 recruiting class was not as deep it should be. To my point, it still is not. However, the class is filled with lineman and there are five commitments in total, three lineman overall.

The size of the linemen is definitely the type of size that you need to be successful in the Big Ten Conference. Some of the pass rushes for these programs are borderline unstoppable. Nebraska has desperately needed to get size on the line. Now, they are beginning to get it. Hopefully, it will translate into success on the field.
Just thinking about it now, I envision a line with these three players giving the quarterback time in the pocket to throw, as well as ample time to go through his reads. That is not something that a Nebraska quarterback has had in the past. Now, the Nebraska signal-callers of the future will be able to get it. That is especially crucial in the Big Ten, where every inch and every yard matters.
Just last year alone, I can think of several situations where the size of these three in particular could have been used. Take the Ohio State game for example. Ohio State pressured Adrian Martinez all evening, and that led to the Nebraska offense throwing three interceptions. The line was noticeably absent in that game. To be fair, the Ohio State defensive line was very good. Hopefully, games like the Ohio State one will not happen again.
Either way, I’m excited about this trio. They bring size, and they bring strength. I know this word is overused a lot, but they really do bring versatility. They can pass and run block extremely effectively. With the talented running backs currently on the roster, this line is going to be crucial for the team’s success.
The future is almost here, and Nebraska is making a concerted effort to strengthen the line. Hopefully, it will pay off. In any event, you can’t fault the program for not trying to address the position.
