Nebraska Football has playmaking quarterbacks on its radar.
As the fallout from the transfer of Noah Vedral continues, Nebraska Football has other quarterbacks on their radar. Tuesday, it was reported that Nebraska is going after Ty Keyes.
Keyes is a pro-style quarterback. Measuring in at six-foot-two, 205 pounds, he is the 14th overall pro-style quarterback in the 2021 class, and the fourth overall player in his class from the state of Mississippi per the 247Sports Composite Rankings. He is a four-star recruit.

In addition to Nebraska, he also has a bunch of offers from big-time schools. Auburn, Oregon, Mississippi State, and all the mess are just some of the schools have extended offers his way.
As made clear in his 247Sports profile, Keyes can throw the football. In statistics from 2018, he threw for 3,736 yards, 39 touchdowns, and seven interceptions. He also managed to rush the football a little bit, carrying the ball 47 times for 335 yards and four touchdowns.
Keyes had a very good high school career. He passed for 3,597 yards, and 41 touchdowns. He also managed to have 350 rushing yards in his high school career.
There is no doubt he is a talented football player. Most recently, he was named the Mississippi Gatorade Player of the Year on December 6.
He would be able to bring a pocket-passing presence to Nebraska football. That would certainly be beneficial to the program. He has a tremendous arm, and in watching his highlights, it looked like he was able to throw the ball down the field with ease. With the type of receivers that Nebraska football is going to have over the next couple of years, a strong-armed quarterback is a must. That will allow the receivers themselves to be able to make more plays.
Keyes looks extremely relaxed in the pocket, and doesn’t appear to get rattled easily. With some of the Big Ten defenses that he will have to face every Saturday, that is also important to note. He would definitely be able to find a home in the Nebraska football offense easily.
Currently, the 2021 Nebraska football recruiting class ranks 35th nationally and 11th overall in the Big Ten. I expect those rankings to go up, as Nebraska is in pursuit of some big-time prospects. I am curious to see who else they have on their quarterback radar as they look to fill out the position. They certainly want to go after some of the bigger-time talents under center.
