Noah Vedral ‘s Nebraska Football career has come to an end.

A former Nebraska football quarterback will look to find a new home. Noah Vedral has entered the transfer portal according to multiple media reports.

He appeared in six games total in his Nebraska football career. 2018 proved to be the season where he would receive his most playing time in Lincoln. With the quarterback position marred by injuries last year, Vedral got to see some starting action.

Two games in particular really stood out to me last season. The first game came against Indiana on October 26. In that contest, he went 14-of-16 on the afternoon, throwing for 201 yards. He also ran the ball seven times for 21 yards and two touchdowns.

His next start against Minnesota was a tough one. He performed okay statistically, going 14-of-23 on the afternoon, throwing for 135 yards in total. He also managed to rush the ball 15 times for 49 yards.

You could see how he would fit in a Scott Frost-led offense. He was a mobile quarterback, and he showed that as well. Aside from last season however, he never received a ton of playing time. Adrian Martinez has always been Scott Frost’s favorite quarterback. I would not expect that to change either.

That along with the quarterback room for when football resumes indicates that there wasn’t enough room for Noah Vedral. Nebraska football already has Martinez, and they have Logan Smothers coming in.

Nebraska has also been going after quarterbacks in recruiting. Simply put, there probably would not have been any room for Vedral moving forward. I certainly think he is a good quarterback, but this just wasn’t the right fit for him. Even still, it would make sense that he transferred to Nebraska following the hire of Frost. Who wouldn’t want to play for their coach that led them through a period of success?

We must also not forget his basketball contributions. Undermanned, Nebraska basketball did not have enough players to field a team for the Big Ten Tournament. Luckily Vedral managed to step in. I certainly applaud him for stepping up and helping out Nebraska Athletics when needed.

Hopefully, he finds a landing spot. He is an extremely talented athlete, and he deserves another chance to be a starter or productive player somewhere else. In the meantime, I thank him for being a part of the Nebraska football program. He certainly gave maximum effort  every time he was on the field.
