Will the receivers live up to expectations?

We have talked all offseason about how great the wide receiving unit is coming along. I truly think they could be something special, as they have many youngsters who can get the job done with it the departure of Stanley Morgan Jr. among others. My biggest concern for this unit is, will they be able to handle the roles of being full-time starters.

Kade Warner got action last season so he is not entirely new to the pace of a college football game. However, Jaron Woodyard didn’t see much time last year partly due to injury and there are a bunch of incoming freshmen who can make an impact. Nevertheless, they will still have to learn the playbook and adjust to life as a college football player.

They are all talented in their own right. Some players on this unit have tremendous hands, while others possess speed. Some receivers can rack up yards after the catch, while others can bulldoze over defenders. There is talent there, I’m just concerned if they can get it done. There are a lot of new faces, so I anticipate growing pains.

One guarantee is that this season will prepare them for future seasons a little bit better. With playing time comes experience, and I believe this unit will be in good shape in the coming years. They should be fine down the road, but I could see a period of adjustment in 2019.
