Mohamed Barry

Mohamed Barry really burst onto the scene last year with 112 tackles. On a veteran-laden group, he showed that he could play with the best in the country. Now, he will go from playing with a strong veteran group to being the veteran. He has already spoken about the fact that he wants to be a leader. He could definitely show that with his play. While there may be a lot of moving parts at the position, Barry will undoubtedly be a major factor for both the Huskers and opposing defenses who want to try to avoid him.

Again, Barry is not ranked in the WalterFootball.com 2020 inside linebacker prospect rankings. However, the statistics speak for themselves. Last year, he truly broke out. In 2017, he recorded only 38 tackles. It seemed like he was comfortable last season, and he needs to be able to continue his aggressive style of play in 2019. The defense should be relying heavily on him, as he is undoubtedly a leader at the position.

For a reference point, the top inside linebacker in the class via the draft rankings, Anfernee Jennings recorded 50 tackles last season. In addition, he had 5.5 sacks, 13 tackles for a loss, one interception, and 11 pass breakups. Jennings has versatility. Barry is more of a straight-forward tackler. Barry only had two sacks and a pass deflection. There is no doubt that Barry’s numbers are impressive, but if he wants to have a shot of potentially being drafted, he needs to put up statistics that single he can be a consistent all-around player.
