J.D. Spielman

J.D. Spielman could undoubtedly be an NFL draft pick by the time his career in Nebraska winds down. Now, the wide receiver position is stacked for 2020 as Jerry Jeudy of Alabama and Collin Johnson of Texas headline what is a very strong group. However, if Spielman can have a strong senior season, he could sneak his way into the later rounds of the draft.

He is ranked as the No. 20 receiver in WalterFootball.com’s prospect rankings. He could see himself climb up that list by season’s end Especially as a veteran player playing at a position that has an influx of youth, he could see his fair share of targets in the fall. Especially knowing the system already, he should be a top target for quarterback Adrian Martinez. He caught 66 passes for 818 yards, and eight touchdowns last season. I expect those numbers to increase in the fall.

He needs to have a good season if he wants to have any hope of being drafted. This is an opportunity that could allow him to impress both scouts and general managers. He has many things going for him, such as his speed and his ability to record an impressive amount of yards per reception. He just needs to make sure to keep up that consistent level of production. If he does, he could find himself being drafted in the later rounds. There is certainly a premium for receivers in the professional ranks these days.
