Even coach Frost said his team has to get tougher

From the opening drive of the game, you could tell that the Nebraska football team was going to have a tough time against Iowa, especially up front.

The Hawkeyes really dominated the game in the trenches and that probably proved to be the difference. Nathan Stanley was solid but not spectacular. He completed 16-of-27 passes for 152 yards and two touchdowns, yet it was the running game that really made the difference.

Iowa, which came in as one of the worst rushing teams in the Big Ten, ran the ball 45 times for 266 yards and two scores. That is what really killed the Huskers. Iowa also won up front on defense, sacking Martinez multiple times and allowing Nebraska to run only 33 times for 140 yards.

Martinez was the leading rushing with 17 attempts for 76 yards. He also had the only rushing touchdown, but against a team like Iowa that won’t cut it. Frost said he was surprised that Iowa was bigger, stronger and tougher. Well now, it’s time to remedy that.
