Nebraska Football: 5 things we learned from the Huskers loss to Iowa
Nebraska football was hoping to end its season on a high note Friday, however, it didn’t happen. Here is what we learned from the loss to Iowa.
When the clock at Kinnick Stadium stuck triple zero, it was another tough result for the Nebraska football team. Iowa had 31 points on the final scoreboard, while the Big Red only had 28.
For much of the game, it seemed like Nebraska football was on the verge of getting blown out. Iowa was bigger, stronger and tougher. Yet, the Huskers never quit and they never stopped battling.
The offense was especially impressive, particularly late in the game. Adrian Martinez engineered two touchdown drives and a two-point conversion to tie things up at 28-28. But then, Iowa found a way to move down the field, convert a fourth-and-eight and kick a game-winning field goal.
It was the perfect way to end a season that has been disappointing, to say the least. Like the Iowa game, there have been some really good moments for the Huskers. But in the end, Nebraska just came up short like it did this season with a 4-8 record.
It never seemed possible for a Nebraska football team to have back-to-back 4-8 seasons, but that just shows how far the drop for this program truly was. Head coach Scott Frost has the Huskers on the right track and that was evident again Friday in Iowa.
Nebraska didn’t get blown out and it didn’t look inferior either. There is still work to do for the future, we all know that, yet here are five things we learned from Nebraska’s 31-28 loss.
