Nebraska Basketball: Preview, predictions for Huskers 2018-19 season
Will Nebraska make it back to the big dance?
For all the good things Tim Miles has done in his time at Nebraska, if he doesn’t get this team back to the NCAA tournament this season, he might find himself on the hot seat.
The Huskers have exactly 31 games scheduled with 20 coming in the Big Ten. In order for the Huskers to make the tournament, I believe they will need at least eight wins in non-conference play and 11 or 12 to make it out of the Big Ten. 11-9 would be a solid record in conference, but 12-8 would be better.
My prediction for the Huskers this season will include a 9-2 mark in non-conference play, with wins over Seton Hall, Creighton and Texas Tech or USC, as well as losses to Oklahoma State and Clemson on the road.
I am also predicting a 12-8 record in the Big Ten for Nebraska and that’s being on the less optimistic side. This team is strong enough to win 14-15 games in the Big Ten. Heck, it won 13 last season. But a 21-10 record should get Nebraska into the tournament, the question is, can the Huskers win a game in March Madness for the first time.
For now, let’s worry about Nebraska getting to the NCAA’s, then we can worry about the Huskers winning a game or two. Don’t forget, the season starts tonight against Mississippi Valley State.
