QUARTERBACKS . D+. . .

I’m really tempted to give this “group” a better grade because you really can’t expect a walk-on quarterback to play much better than this. At the same time, he made a couple of pretty massive mistakes that were killer in a close ballgame.

Bunch did throw two touchdown passes. That’s the big positive from his performance. He also threw two interceptions. The big problem with Bunch’s performance is that he just wasn’t very good.

It wasn’t that he was really bad, he just couldn’t get the job done. Bunch also looked really uncomfortable under center for most of the game.

Perhaps this is perception but it also appeared the Nebraska football team simply couldn’t run their offense. Again, it’s not fair to expect a backup quarterback to play as good as the starter, but the Cornhuskers needed Bunch to step up. He couldn’t do it.

Give him credit for being a gamer and taking the ball when his team needed him, but he looked like a walk-on who we can all hope won’t need to start again this season.
