Nebraska Basketball: Huskers get their shot at touted guard Kerwin Walton
The Nebraska basketball team is going to be getting a visit from one of the best shooting guards in the 2020 class in the near future.
Never say that Tim Miles is resting on his laurels. The Nebraska basketball coach has been working overtime the last few months to get a shot at some of the best high school players in the country.
That includes a reported visit from Kerwin Walton. Ryan James, of the Prephoops Network reports that Walton is set to visit the Huskers, as well as conference rival Iowa sometime over the next month.
The class of 2020 shooting guard is considered a 3-star prospect by Rivals. While he hasn’t racked up a ton of offers, he’s already got one from a current for of the Cornhuskers and a former one.
Purdue and Kansas State have both offered. Iowa and Nebraska are likely to follow when Walton visits.
Walton also has an offer from Drake, though it would appear a Nebrasketball offer would override that. Purdue appears to be the real team anyone wanting Walton should worry about. At the same time, there is quite a wait before we really have an idea where this prospect might go.
What is clear is that the Nebraska basketball team is buoyed by a resurgent 2017 season. If Miles and company can repeat that kind of success in 2018, the playing field will have officially changed.
The Cornhuskers are already hosting Rashad McDaniels. McDaniels would be a heck of a get.
If the Nebraska basketball team could add Walton, Tim Miles could show he’s building something for the future as well as the present.
