Troy is easily the best non-conference team the Nebraska football team will face in 2018. They are likely better than a few of the Big Ten teams the Huskers will clash with.

While Akron was bad on both defense and offense, Troy was pretty darn good on both sides of the ball. Yes, quite a few of their stats came by way of playing Sun Belt teams, but they also showed they can take on the big boys.

In 2017, Troy beat LSU, in Baton Rouge. This team isn’t one that’s afraid to try and win on hostile fields. That’s bad news for the Cornhuskers who will almost assuredly be looking to lean on the home crowd for a boost.

The good news for Nebraska is that Troy is going to have to replace their starting running back and starting quarterback. Whoever is under center is going to be extremely untested.

This is one of those games that could go either way, depending on how things have shaped up in the first few weeks in the season. A win here could also be a good barometer of what we can expect for the rest of the season.

Prediction Time

The Nebraska football team is going to have its hands full. There are several tossups on the schedule and people looking past Troy are going to regret it. Having said that I think the Huskers will win a close one, 28-27 to improve to 3-0.
