The good news keeps on coming for the Nebraska football team.

The Nebraska football team secured the commitment of the best player in the state on Saturday evening. Omaha Burke product Nick Henrich announced he was officially becoming a Husker.

The announcement continues what has been a spate of good news for Scott Frost and company just as they start to get ready for fall camp. On Friday, the Huskers secured the commitment of defensive tackle Tony Fair and managed to grab a grad transfer pledge from UCF defensive back Tre Neal.

The Huskers also found out on Saturday that they are one of four finalists to land one of the best players in the 2018 class. Bryan Addison was originally signed with the UCLA Bruins but could not get cleared by the school.

Addison is now looking for a new school and would be immediately eligible. While Addison would be a big boost to the 2018 class, Henrich is a big boost to a 2019 class that has talent but not a ton of “stars.”

Henrich is a 4-star prospect according to the 247Sports composite rankings. Not only is he the top-ranked player in Nebraska, but he’s the ninth-ranked inside linebacker in the class.

Henrich appears to be starting a new trend when it comes to Nebraska players. He and teammate Chris Hickman have both been getting a ton of attention from other Power 5 programs.

Henrich had offers from powers like Florida, Notre Dame and Oregon. Overall he had 21 total offers.
