Nebraska basketball: 3 key points on the departure of Jordy Tshimanga
Yes, Nebraska basketball fans were likely surprised that Jordy Tshimanga pushed for his scholarship release, but his departure is not a shock. Oddly enough, it was almost six months to the day we went through this once before.
Back in January, Tshimanga began the process of departing. Shortly after that process began, there was even more talk that it was almost a foregone conclusion that he would indeed leave the Huskers program.
When it appeared the Huskers were going to have to play the second half of the season without a real big man, Jordy suddenly reversed course. Much like the events of today, there wasn’t a ton of talk about just why he had started the process of leaving, nor why he changed his mind.
Homesickness may be an issue here. He hails from Canada, Nebraska is quite a ways away.
It’s also possible he simply doesn’t like the role Tim Miles has picked out for him on the team. Perhaps he envisioned himself as someone who would be getting the rock down low quite a bit more than he had. Maybe he simply thought he would have more playing time.
