Former Nebraska football star could return to the Cowboys in time for camp.

Randy Gregory has a hot and cold relationship with some Nebraska football fans. He likely has the same kind of relationship with some Dallas Cowboy fans.

While it’s safe to say there are people in both group of fans that are tired of talking/hearing about the defensive end, the Cowboys themselves are likely hoping they hear his name plenty this season.

The former Cornhusker and current Cowboy has been suspended for an indefinite period of time from the NFL. Having filed his paperwork to be reinstated, quite a few signs are pointing to good news coming in the very near future.

That very thing was hinted at earlier this spring. Now there are even more reports surfacing that seem to indicate Gregory could be back in the NFL soon.

The catch is that the process is not a particularly public one, so we aren’t going to know what the real direction is before everything is finalized.

Blogging the Boys is reporting that there have been over 1,000 pages submitted to the league offices all detailing how hard the defensive lineman has worked since his latest suspension.

Gregory clearly wants to get back into the NFL. He’d like to lace up the pads for the Cowboys again.

The NFL at the moment, is taking a “once bitten twice shy” approach but an answer is expected to come soon. Those in the know claim Gregory submitted his paperwork back in early May.

There is usually a two month limit to how long a player has to wait for an official response. That should mean that the former Nebraska football player will hear back next week at the latest.

The Dallas Cowboys will officially open their training camp on July 24. All signs seem to be pointing to Randy Gregory being there when that happens.
