Nebraska football: Kicking the tires on Demetris Robertson as a Husker
The Nebraska football team wasn’t in on Demetris Robertson the first time around but the offense and the coaching staff for the Huskers is different now.
Earlier this week, it’s possible that a five-star wide receiver made himself available to the Nebraska football team. No, Demetris Robertson didn’t say he was going to be a Husker.
What Robertson did say is that he is no longer going to be a California Golden Bear. That could be a very big deal for a Cornhuskers team that is trying to reload and rebuild as fast as humanly possible.
Scott Frost and company have had no problem going after transfer players in order to do that rebuild. Most of the time the transfer players have been diamonds in the rough.
This would be a full-fledged blue-ribbon prospect. The bad news is that the Nebraska football team had not been in on the prospect the first time around.
That means they don’t have any kind of relationship with Robertson. The good news is that the staff that is currently running things in Lincoln wasn’t here the first time around.
There’s a new offense in town. The kind of offense that someone like Robertson might really enjoy playing in.
The Nebraska football staff is going to want to make sure they sell the program, if he’ll give them the time of day. The first step is going to be getting him on the horn and trying to convince him of the difference he could make to the Cornhuskers’ attack.
