The Nebraska football team hosted one of the best offensive guards from the state of Texas this week. Can they put a dent in local teams’ hold on him?
The Nebraska football has been working hard on overhauling its’ offensive line. While they just threw out a couple of new offers to 2020 linemen, they also hosted a number of top targets from the 2019 class this week.
Brant Banks was among those visitors. Shortly after his unofficial visit, he tweeted out his thanks to the Cornhuskers coaching staff. He added that he had a great time in Lincoln.
The question now is whether or not the Huskers can make real inroads with a player that most think is going to be staying in-state. Banks is Houston prospect that has quite a few offers from Texas schools already.

Baylor appears to be the frontrunner according to 247Sports. Houston and North Texas have also both offered the three-star prospect.

It’s no wonder the Huskers want to try to go into the Lone State state and steal Banks. He’s got the kind of build Scott Frost and company are looking for in an offensive guard.
Banks hasn’t entered his senior year yet and he already stands at 6-7 and weighs in at 265 pounds. The Huskers are clearly looking to add some road graders on the offensive line.
The most interesting part of the Huskers’ approach the last few weeks has been how much they have focused on the offensive line. Clearly, the new staff has realized that it all starts up front.

If the Nebraska football team can convince their targets how important they find these types of players, it will likely be able to convince them how badly they want them in Lincoln. That could go a long way towards stealing players from their backyard schools like Baylor.
