Bobby Reynolds had one of the most improbable runs in Nebraska football history

I told you not every play talked about in this list was going to involve a Nebraska football player from the last 30 years. Bobby Reynolds, known as “Mr. Touchdown” back in the day is an underrated running back in Husker history.

He certainly made his presence in the backfield known in a November game back in 1950 against the, then Big 7 rival Missouri Tigers.

Reynolds ran around over and through the Tigers’ defense that day. He was a one-man wrecking crew as he scored three touchdowns and ran for 175 yards on 25 carries.

In the 40-34 win over Missouri, he had one particular run that stood out from the rest. In that run, he went for a 33-yard touchdown but he had to run back and forth, left and right in order to do it.

The Huskers’ official site says that it appears as though Reynolds covered about 100 total yards in order to get away from defenders. He changed course about three different times in order to get to the endzone.

In 1950, the Nebraska football team posted a 6-2-1 record. That’s likely why you haven’t heard more about this season or what Bobby Reynolds did. That doesn’t take away from one of the best runs in the program’s history.
