It’s important to note just how big a recruiting win the nabbing of Luke McCaffrey was for the Nebraska football team.

It appears the Colorado quarterback knew he was going to be a Cornhusker over the weekend, but announced it to the world on Monday. That left quite a few teams’ fans feeling disappointed.

McCaffrey had a total of 11 offers and almost all of them were from big-name schools. Among the programs that were left being recognized as bridesmaids were two Big Ten rivals.

Both Michigan and Ohio State had offered the quarterback. So did North Carolina, Ole Miss and Washington.

If you are at all concerned about the fact the quarterback’s numbers don’t pop off the page, rest easy in the fact that tons of Power 5 schools agreed with Scott Frost and company that this player is worth adding to the roster.

According to 247Sports, McCaffrey is the top-ranked player in the entire state of Colorado. Technically listed as an athlete, he’s the 17th best player in his position of the entire 2019 class.

This also isn’t one of those recruits that you can expect to change his mind in the next week or two. McCaffrey has gone on the record as saying that he made the call this week because he’s 100 percent sure this is the call he wants to make.

His parents apparently encouraged him to wait until he was 100 percent sure he knew where he wanted to go for college. Luke McCaffrey says he’s 100 percent sure he wants to be a part of the Nebraska football team.
