Nebraska basketball head coach has been on a bit of a whirlwind media tour. In his latest stop he was confident in what his team can do next season.

Tim Miles is supremely confident in his Nebraska basketball team heading into the 2018-19 season. During a recent appearance on Jon Rothstein’s College Hoops Today podcast, Miles made it clear he thinks the stars are aligned for another top-four finish in the Big Ten conference.

The stars that have aligned? Isaiah Roby, Isaac Copeland and James Palmer Jr to name three. The trio all declared for the NBA draft this winter but none retained an agent and all three have now said they are coming back to Lincoln.

"“I’m picking us in the top four of the Big Ten next season. This is probably the best roster I’ve ever had as a head coach and I can’t wait to get started.”"

Miles told the podcast. It’s a safe bet that he at least has his best roster as the head coach of the Cornhuskers.

In addition to the return of the team’s top three scorers, Miles also has players like Thomas Allen and Nana Akenten back and more seasoned.

Both guards saw some action as true freshmen a year ago. Allen, especially showed that he was a deadeye from three-point land. Akenten entered the program as a highly touted recruit and could make some noise if he works himself into the rotation.

The Huskers also have Glynn Watson Jr coming back for one more season. Considering that his junior year was not what most hoped, he might be coming back with a chip on his shoulder.

Center Jordy Tshimanga also showed some improvement in his all-around game last year and should only get better next season. The confidence Miles showed in the podcast appearance is far from unfounded.

Earlier in the week, Miles made headlines when he claimed that he’s turned down numerous job offers since he came to Nebraska. Some of those offers reportedly came from Power 5 conference teams.

There is a double-edged sword to the Nebraska basketball team having so much talent on its roster. If things don’t pan out, Miles might be wishing he had taken one of those other job offers.
