The Nebraska football team is making inroads with a number of highly sought-after defensive lineman.

Jaelin Humphries has narrowed down his list to his favorite 10 schools. Among a list that is almost exclusively SEC schools, the Nebraska football team stands out.

Humphries, a four-star defensive tackle out of Lawrenceville, Georgia announced his preferences on his Twitter account this weekend. It sure looks like even making this list is a bit of a coup for the Huskers’ coaching staff.

Alongside the Cornhuskers is Auburn, Tennesee, South Carolina, Florida, Mississippi State, Alabama, Georgia, LSU and Miami. You might notice that the Hurricanes are the only other non-SEC team in his Top 10.

That barely counts, since Miami is smack dab in the middle of SEC country. The list also shows that the Huskers really are making some impressive inroads in the state of Georgia.

The 247Sports Composite rankings list Humphries as the 13th best defensive tackle in the 2019 class and the 23rd best player in the state of Georgia. He’s also the 202nd ranked player in the entire class.

The pairing down to 10 means the defensive star has cut his list in half since he boasts 23 total offers. There is on estimate on when he might be pairing his list down even more.

Reading the tea leaves, it’s clear Nebraska is going to have an uphill battle in order to steal this kid away from his home region. While he has yet to take any official visits, he’s already got a handful of unofficial trips under his belt.

In April he took trips to Tennessee and LSU. In March he paid a visit to Florida.

It’s a safe bet that if the Nebraska football team wants any shot with this big-bodied defender they are going to need to clinch an official visit in short order. It seems unlikely he’s coming all the way to Lincoln without it being “on the books.”
