Nebraska football misses the cut with Georgia cornerback
One of Nebraska football’s targets at the cornerback position announced his top seven schools on Wednesday morning and the Huskers weren’t included.
Georgia cornerback Warren Burrell announced the teams he’s still considering on Wednesday morning. Unfortunately, the Nebraska football team did not make the cut.
The three-star cornerback cut the list of teams he’s considering down to seven including, Georgia, Florida, Tennessee, North Carolina State, Ohio State, Penn State and Notre Dame.
That list hurts a little bit, if only because Tennessee and North Carolina are not far and away better than the Cornhuskers. In fact, Tennessee is arguably worse.

The Volunteers coach can’t even stay away from picking fights with his own fan base. North Carolina State is on the way up, but they aren’t on a tier with the Huskers just yet.
It’s also frustrating because his choices were clearly not all about the region. Penn State, Ohio State and (inexplicably) Notre Dame all made the cut.
Georgia is also a spot Scott Frost and the rest of the coaching staff have been hitting hard. If there is anything to take away from this announcement as far as a silver lining, it’s that Wisconsin didn’t make the cut either.
The Huskers also haven’t been in on Burrell all that long. Nebraska first offered the cornerback on March 31. The Badgers offered on April 25.
There is also the added bonus that it’s May. Nothing is set in stone.
Burrell is considered a heavy lean to the Georgia Bulldogs by most recruiting experts. As of now, he hasn’t pulled the trigger on a commitment.
Next: Nebraska basketball should look at pair of newly announced transfers
The Nebraska football team is unlikely to just take their ball and go home following this announcement by Warren Burrell. What it does indicate is that they have their work cut out for them if they want to get him to Lincoln.
