Nebraska football got good news regarding their class of 2020 recruiting efforts.

One of Nebraska football’s top 2020 targets on the offensive line announced he had decommitted from the University of Oklahoma on Thursday night. The announcement came one day after the Huskers officially offered Andrew Raym.

Obviously, it’s entirely possible those two events happening back to back are a coincidence. It would be folly to think the Cornhuskers are pulling away recruits from the Sooners just because they offered.

It is possible that Raym realized that he didn’t quite want to be done with his recruiting so early in the cycle. Considering he’s a member of the 2020 class, he’s got over a year before he’ll be able to sign.

It’s only natural that someone who is going to get as much attention as him would want to keep his options open for a while yet. Whatever the reason, Raym being a free agent again is good news for the Huskers.

According to 247Sports, Raym is the number seven offensive tackle in the entire 2020 class. He’s also ranked as the best player in the entire state of Oklahoma.

That might be a bit of a surprise for someone who looks at the fact that he’s got just eight offers so far. Oklahoma, Notre Dame, Arkansas, Memphis, Oklahoma State, Texas A&M, SMU, and Tulsa are the other offers.

While there still aren’t a ton of Power 5 offers on Raym’s list yet, he’s hitting the radar of more and more teams every day. It’s likely that’s the real reason the offensive tackle decided he didn’t want to be committed to one school already.

It’s going to be an uphill battle for the Nebraska football team even if Raym has decided to look around. In his announcement, he made it clear he’s still very much considering the Sooners. The Huskers have already lost another head to head battle for an offensive lineman to Oklahoma this spring. It would be nice to get a little payback b nabbing Andrew Raym.
