Nebraska football doles out new offer to Houston dual-threat quarterback
The Nebraska football team has offered a brand new dual-threat quarterback out of the state of Texas. Terrance Gipson is a 3-star prospect from Houston.
The latest dual-threat quarterback offered by the Nebraska football team might be a bit under the radar, but that could change soon. Terrance Gipson, out of Houston, Texas is one of the best players in the state and is starting to get more attention from Power 5 teams.
At the moment, only the Cornhuskers and the Virginia Cavaliers are Power 5 squads that have offered the quarterback. At the moment, the schools that are competing with the Big Ten team are Howard, McNeese State, and Memphis.
That might seem like an offer list that needs some improvement but consider that Virginia and Nebraska have both offered in the last two months. Considering he’s the 21st best dual-threat quarterback in the country according to 247Sports, it’s a pretty safe bet more teams are going to come calling and soon.
Gipson certainly put up the kind of numbers you’d love to see from a Cornhuskers’ quarterback. in 2017, he passed for over 2,000 yards and 19 touchdowns to just two interceptions. He also rushed for 429 yards and another five touchdowns.
He was also named his divisions offensive MVP. He also led his Westfield team to an 11-1 record last year. All of those things mean that the Huskers would likely be plenty happy getting the quarterback, even if he’s not getting a ton of attention from other big schools just yet.
It is interesting how much the focus for the Nebraska football team has turned. Earlier in the year, almost all the offers going out there were to highly touted prospects that most of the Power 5 powers were after as well. In the last couple of weeks, more than a few offers have gone out to lesser-known prospects. We’ll have to wait and see if a clue emerges as to what was behind the shift.
