The Nebraska football team lost out to Mississippi in a battle for one of the best dual-threat quarterbacks in the country.

The Nebraska football program has been doing battle with quite a few SEC teams since Scott Frost and company arrived. While they have managed to win more than they’ve lost, Ole Miss has temporarily gotten the better of the Cornhuskers in a campaign for the services of a dual-threat quarterback in Grant Tisdale.

Tisdale announced earlier this week that he officially committed to the Ole Miss Running Rebels. The announcement is a definite pickup for Mississippi as they attempt to compete in an increasingly difficult SEC.

While the recruiting loss hurts the Huskers, the bottom line is that Ole Miss had a better and longer relationship with the Texas product. Nebraska just got into the race in March, while the Rebels offered Tisdale back in November of last year.

The 4-star Allen, Texas prospect is the eighth-ranked dual-threat quarterback in the entire 2019 class and 39th best player in the state of Texas for this year according to 247Sports. That recruiting website had Tisdale as a heavy lean towards Mississippi all along with Texas A&M following close behind.

For the Huskers, it’s back to the drawing board when it comes to getting a quarterback in this class. It’s not entirely clear how badly they are needing a signal caller for 2019.

The Cornhuskers landed phenom Adrian Martinez in the last cycle, tearing him away from Tennessee late in the game. There are also some indications the team is going to be looking for a graduate transfer who could allow Martinez to redshirt.

With a new system just being implemented, Frost and company are clearly looking for as many capable QBs as possible. Considering it’s only April, don’t expect the Nebraska football team to consider the door completely closed on Grant Tisdale.
