Nebraska football target Chris Hickman is one of the best players in the state. That’s why a new offer should make Husker fans a bit nervous.

Nebraska football fans are learning what it’s like to have players in the state that are among the best in the country. Omaha Burke tight end Chris Hickman is the 10th best player in his position as rated by 247Sports.

That means that while the Cornhuskers have certainly gone after the prospect, there are plenty of other Power 5 conference teams that are doing the same. Earlier in the year, Purdue was among the squads trying to pilfer the homegrown Husker talent.

Earlier this week, Oregon joined the fray with an official offer to Hickman. Considering Nebraska fans are already a bit nervous about one of Hickman’s teammates, it’s a safe bet the Ducks coming into Cornhuskers’ territory is raising some blood pressures.

The Oregon offer moves Hickman up to 11 total offers, and several of those teams are right around his home area. In addition to the Ducks and the Huskers, the talented tight end now boasts offers from the aforementioned Purdue, as well as Indiana, Iowa, Iowa State, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Ole Miss and North Dakota State.

The Mississippi offer is interesting if only because the Huskers lost out in a recruiting battle for a dual-threat quarterback to the Running Rebels. It’s a safe bet the Cornhuskers would like to keep Hickman close to home and win a recruiting battle over the SEC team as well.

Hickman recently visited Lincoln and by all accounts, he is the Huskers’ to lose. That might not be the case with teammate Nick Henrich.

The other Omaha Burke talent recently visited Iowa and has high regards for the Hawkeyes. If the Nebraska football team can eventually close the deal on both Henrich and Chris Hickman, it would have to be considered a big win.
