The Nebraska football team was listed among the 10 teams that are now the favorites to win the commitment of a 4-star safety out of Georgia.

If you’ve been paying attention to the way the Nebraska football coaching staff has been recruiting this year, you’ve likely noticed a pattern. Scott Frost and company seem to think Georgia should become a pipeline to Lincoln.

The Cornhuskers have a ton of offers out to Georgia players and it appears the blanketing of the state is paying off. On Sunday night, one of the best players in that area announced his Top 10 list and the Huskers were on it.

Jalyn Phillips is not only one of the best safeties in the state of Georgia, but he’s also one of the best safeties in the class. According to 247Sports, Phillips is rated as a 4-star prospect and the 29th best safety in the 2019 class.

He’s also the 40th best player in the entire state of Georgia. Having said all that, it’s no surprise why Phillips is garnering attention from the best schools in the country.

The safety has a whopping 54 offers but now he says he will be focusing his recruiting to 10 teams. In addition to Nebraska, he named Alabama, Georgia, Florida State, Oklahoma, Oregon, Ohio State, Clemson, USC, and Tennessee.

One look at that list and you know the Huskers have a high hill to climb if they even want Phillips to spend one of his official visits on the program. Still, it’s nice to see the program getting the attention of these top of the line prospects is a nice trend that has continued under the Frost administration.

As he just named his cut down, it’s impossible to know for sure where the Nebraska football team stands with Jalyn Phillips. The next step will indeed be attempting to get him on campus.
