Nebraska football: Former Husker guard finds new NFL home
Former Nebraska football star Matt Slauson has found himself a new NFL home. The free agent went from the Chargers to the Colts on Wednesday.
The NFL free agency period has been a busy one for former Nebraska football stars. Niles Paul found himself with a new home in Jacksonville. Ndamukong Suh is still looking for his new home.
Now Matt Slauson has signed with a new team. The former Cornhuskers guard signed a brand new contract with the Indianapolis Colts on Monday evening.
The move ends his one season career with the San Diego Chargers. It’s a safe bet Slauson would like a do-over for that season, considering he missed all but seven games due to injury.
The 2017 season was only the second in Slauson’s career that he didn’t start all 16 games for his team. The Colts will be the fourth team the lineman has played for over the course of his what will be a nine-season career so far.

The former Nebraska star started his career with the New York Jets and played three seasons in the Big Apple. In 2013, he moved over to the Chicago Bears and played another three seasons there.
2016 saw him start all 16 games for the then San Diego Chargers. Last season was nearly a career low for games played and started thanks to a biceps injury. His actual career low for appearances in the NFL is just five games with the Bears in 2014. That year was also shortened due to injury.
