The Nebraska football team is in good standing with a Missouri athlete who could play receiver or cornerback.

The Nebraska football coaching staff might be focusing on Spring Practice but that doesn’t mean they can’t spend a bit of time recruiting as well. When they do go out recruiting, good things tend to happen.

Witness the Cornhuskers making the cut for a Missouri athlete who appears to be multitalented. Bryce Childress announced his top seven teams and the Huskers were among that group.

While the athlete is rated as a 3-star receiver, he’s also among the best defensive backs in the 2019 class according to 247Sports.

The athlete announced the seven schools he will be focusing on from now on. While the Huskers are at the top of that list, the Missouri target said the list order was not indicative of what he felt about a certain school.

In addition to the Nebraska football team, Illinois, Iowa State, Kansas, Kentucky, Toledo, and Western Michigan made the cut. That might be good news for the Cornhuskers, considering they are among the best of that group.

Of course, going up against Illinois isn’t an automatic win these days. The Illini recently got the commit of Marquez Beason.

Beason is a 4-star player that the Huskers were hoping would at least give Lincoln a look before he committed anywhere. Turns out Lovie Smith and company made a very good sales pitch and he made the call sight unseen.

With that in mind, the Cornhuskers aren’t likely taking the recruitment of Childress lightly. When the coaching staff sets its sights on someone, they’ve had some pretty good success.

Because most of the other schools on his list are a lower tier, they can certainly sell what it would mean to play in a place like Memorial Stadium. Because he’s from Missouri, the climate won’t be a concern if he chooses to come to play for the Nebraska football program either.
