Nebraska football: Huskers make the cut for ‘pipeline’ level tackle
The Nebraska football team is going to have to continue to make the cut for players like John Olmstead if it wants to rebuild the offensive line.
If there has one thing the new Nebraska football staff has been consistent about, it’s that they want to rebuild the vaunted “pipeline” on the offensive line.
It makes sense that this staff, full of former Cornhuskers, would truly understand how important that is. Making the cut for prospects like New Jersey Offensive lineman John Olmstead fits that bill.
Olmstead announced his first cut down just as the weekend was getting started and the Huskers are among those schools he’s still looking at. Perhaps the way the offensive tackle made the announcement shows just how important he is to whoever gets him.
While Twitter is often the method of choice, Olmstead used a video on his official Twitter account make the announcement. It was well produced and snappy and made people wait a bit longer to see if they made the cut.

The Cornhuskers’ work isn’t done yet. Despite being in that first cut, they still have to fight off some of the best schools in the country to get New Jersey’s top offensive lineman.
According to 247Sports, is a 4-star prospect that is considered the 19th best offensive tackle in the entire 2019 class. He’s also the fourth best player in the entire state of New Jersey.
Considering the fertile recruiting grounds that state is, it’s saying something he’s ranked as high as he is. At the moment, the recruiting service thinks he’s a pretty heavy lean to Notre Dame.
