The Nebraska football team hosted Iowa defensive end Mosai Newsom on Thursday. Newsom tweeted out how much he enjoyed the visit.

The Nebraska football team had a special visitor just a day before Spring Practice officially kicked off. Where Mosai Newsom is from might grab headlines even more than the talent of the visitor.

When it comes to in-state talent, both Iowa and Nebraska tend to have a handful of players that get much attention from FBS powers outside their home region.

In the 2019 class, it’s been interesting to see the number of homegrown Husker kids that have gotten big-time offers from programs across the country. It looks like Iowa fans can same a bit of the same.

On Thursday, the Nebraska football coaches hosted Iowa defensive end Mosai Newsom in hopes of luring the player to his neighbor state. It’s a safe bet that if Scott Frost and company managed to pull that off, it would be considered quite the coup in Hawkeye country.

Newsome is a 3-star defensive end according to 247Sports. He’s also a heavy, heavy lean towards Iowa according to the site’s Crystal Ball predictions.

The Big Ten has been in on this kid quite recently. Iowa, of course, has been going after Newsom the longest and Minnesota jumped in last November. Most recently, Nebraska made an official offer on February 24 and Northwestern jumped into the race on March 3.

Iowa State and Northern Iowa have also offered Newsom. Considering the schools that are going after the defensive end, who is the fourth-ranked player in the entire state of Iowa, it doesn’t appear he’s done getting offers.

The Nebraska football team is just going to have to hope they can poach Mosai Newsom from their neighbors. Perhaps they should consider it a bit of payback for Noah Fant.
