The Nebraska football team had a slew of offers go out on Monday afternoon and night. Among them was a Texas prospect who could play on either side.

Fresh off their first commitment of 2018, the Nebraska football coaching staff made quite a push on Monday afternoon and night. Offers were going out to players all over the country.

Among those offers was one to a 4-star defensive back in Jeffery Carter. While Carter is rated by Rivals and 247Sports as a four-star defender, the player himself said the Cornhuskers are looking at him at wide receiver.

That might be a bit of a surprise considering he’s among the best in the country at cornerback. 247Sports has him ranked at the 20th best cornerback in the class. It’s possible that his 6-0, 180 frame is the reason the Huskers are looking for him to play on the offensive side of the ball.

Perhaps the most interesting aspect to Carter is that he’s got enough talent that a school like Nebraska could bring him over as a wide receiver and move him to cornerback if that’s where he ends up feeling more comfortable.

He put up impressive stats on both sides of the ball for Aledo High. Last year he hauled down 10 passes for 232 yards and a touchdown. Yes, he averaged 23.2 yards per catch. His long on the season was 79 yards.

On defense, Carter recorded 28 tackles in 10 games, including 20 solo tackles. He also showed he had a nose for the ball as he picked off two passes. Since Carter was a commit to Oklahoma until January of this year, it’s a safe bet he’s going to be taking his time when he chooses his next school.

The Nebraska football team is going to have its work cut out for it, as Jeffery Carter is being recruited by the best of the best. Among suitors for the Texas talent is Alabama, Georgia, and Texas A&M.
