The Nebraska football team is going after the best of the best in Jaylen McCollough.

While the 2018 signing day has not yet come and gone, the Nebraska football staff is turning its attention to the 2019 class. When looking at that class, there are few players better than defensive back Jaylen McCollough.

McCollough, a safety out of Powder Springs, Georgia is one of the best players in the country. Rivals currently has him ranked as the 91st player in the 2019 class.

The four-star prospect is the 7th best defensive back in the class and the 10th best player in the state. Considering those rankings, it seems as if Georgia is going to be a fertile hunting ground for the Husker coaches next year.

Georgia is going to be a fertile hunting ground for the rest of the country too. McCollough already has offers from the best schools in the nation.

Those offers include Alabama, Ohio State, Georgia, and Florida State. In fact, the number of offers he has is where this gets interesting.

More from Nebraska Football

A few weeks back, the talented safety announced a cut down list of schools he was still considering. That list consisted of Alabama, Ohio State, Florida State, Florida, Auburn, Georgia, Tennessee, and South Carolina.

Despite that announcement, the Cornhuskers and other schools have continued their pursuit. It’s going to be interesting to see what sort of chance Scott Frost and company have, considering the player seems to already be tiring of the recruiting grind.

The good news, for Nebraska football fans, is that this staff has had a ton of success luring in their targets. Jaylen McCollough is the kind of player where it would be a coup if they could even get him on campus. They’ve got some time to work and see if they can make that unfold.
