Nebraska football’s Tre Bryant is one player that Athlon believes is set for a breakout season.

We’re still a few months away from the Nebraska football team’s spring game. That doesn’t mean it’s too early to start looking at next season.

When looking at next season, there are a few players that might stand out in the college football world. Athlon has put a list of the 30 players who stand to shine.

Among those players, one Husker made the list. Tre Bryant is expected to have a “breakout” season according to the magazine.

More from Nebraska Football

"“Bryant was off to a fast start in 2017, but he was sidelined after the first two games due to injury. Through Nebraska’s first two contests, Bryant rushed for 299 yards and two touchdowns, averaging a healthy 5.9 yards per carry mark. New coach Scott Frost should find plenty of ways to get the ball in Bryant’s hands in 2018.”"

While it’s hard to argue with that, one has to wonder whether Bryant is going to get the carries in order to “breakout.” The Huskers signed a JUCO running back in Greg Bell that stands to get some carries in 2018.

Bryant also has to prove he can stay healthy for an entire season. While he managed to get 31 carries in his first game last year, and managed to carry 20 times against Oregon, he was hurt for the rest of the season.

In order for Bryant to become the breakout star Athlon thinks he can, and Husker fans hope he can, he’s going to need to show some durability. He’ll also need to beat out what’s sure to be an interesting battle for the running back position.

The good news is, Scott Frost and company will give Bryant the opportunity to be very special this season. The only question is whether or not Tre Bryant can take the mantle of starting running back for the Nebraska football team.
