Nebraska football: Newest Husker running back headed to Lincoln

Greg Bell is getting a jump on things. The newest running back for the Nebraska football team is going to be in Lincon for good starting this weekend.

There are plenty of Nebraska football fans who think Greg Bell can win the starting running back job this fall. Bell is helping his cause by coming to Lincoln in January.

Bell is actually in Nebraska now and not just for a visit. He’s ready to enroll and officially be part of the student-athletes that will be going to classes starting later this month.

That’s big news for those who hope Bell can learn head coach Scott Frost‘s quickly. He’s got the talent to be one of the best in the Big Ten.

Understanding the offense is going to be a big boon in taking the job away from players who have been at Nebraska the last couple of years.

Tre Bryant especially has looked special when he’s been healthy.

Bell being here for Spring Practice, and getting his mitts on the playbook as soon as possible can only help the team as well.

Even if he can’t take the starting running back job outright, he can be a contributor from the first week of the 2018 regular season.

Considering there are going to be lots of question marks, have four or five backs who are all capable of carrying the rock, the offense has a chance to be special, even if there isn’t a marquee player.

At the same time, Greg Bell has the stuff to be a marquee player.

The Nebraska football team is hoping he shows off that potential starting in the fall.
