Nebraska football gets commitment from Florida athlete

The Nebraska football team got a largely unexpected commitment from Florida athlete Braxton Clark on Sunday night.

The Nebraska football team has been rising up the recruiting class rankings of late. It looks as though they might rise again thanks to the Sunday night commitment of Florida athlete Braxton Clark.

Clark’s announcement of his commitment comes as a bit of a surprise. While it wasn’t entirely expected it was definitely welcome, as Clark becomes the fourth commit since last Sunday.

The really interesting thing about this commit is that most weren’t counting him when they were doing their count of players the Huskers were going to be taking in this class.

The Cornhuskers beat out a whole host of teams in order to secure Clark. Most interestingly is Ole Miss, who Nebraska will be trying to beat out again in a few weeks when Cam Jones announces.

The Cornhuskers have been going head to head with quite a few SEC teams this recruiting cycle. That can largely be blamed on the fact that the team has quite a presence in Florida.

Clark, a three-star athlete according to Rivals played corner in high school, though it appears he could play some receiver as well. He’s a big bodied player, making him that much more attractive on either side of the ball.

It appears he will at least be given a chance to play the defensive backfield for Nebraska, as he mentioned Coach Fischer in his announcement tweet.

While prospects tend to commit this time of year, as there are just a few weeks left in the recruiting cycle, the Huskers are having a haul like we haven’t seen in quite some time as we come down to the deadline.

Even better than Braxton Clark adding another talented, speedy body to the recruiting class is that he can play a position of need for the Nebraska football team. The makeover continues …
