The Nebraska football team has offered James Foster II, underlining it’s desire to have a stable of dual-threat quarterbacks.

Perhaps because Tanner Lee is no longer a member of the Nebraska football team, the Husker coaching staff has offered quarterback James Foster II a scholarship. The Cornhuskers already have one quarterback commit in this class in the form of Adrian Martinez.

It appears Scott Frost and company are working overtime to reshape the quarterback position in Lincoln. Under Mike Riley, Tanner Lee was the first of what had been a shift towards a drop-back passer.

That shift has now been put in reverse, as Frost’s offense will run a version of the spread and will rely on mobile quarterbacks who can throw and throw on the run. One look at Foster, a three-star QB out of Alabama illustrates he can do it all.

The Huskers are far from the only school that believes Foster is the total package. The quarterback boasts offers from Florida State, LSU, and Georgia among others.

In the Big Ten, Nebraska isn’t facing off with too many of the big boys, but they will have to fight off Illinois and Purdue. The biggest adversary might be a school that hasn’t offered just yet.

Alabama appears to be pretty high on Foster’s list, according to Rivals. At the moment, they are recruiting him but haven’t given him a scholarship offer.

It’s possible space in the class just opened up with the decommitment of Trey Sanders on Tuesday. The Crimson Tide are likely going to be working to get Sanders back into the fold, but they could do worse as a backup plan than James Foster II.

The dual-threat quarterback just announced he had received an offer from the Nebraska football team and hasn’t said yet when or if he might be taking an official visit.
