Nebraska football: Quarterback target commits to Kentucky
The new Nebraska football coaching staff had its first recruiting loss this weekend.
While the focus for the new Nebraska football staff has been positive since they got here, they suffered what could be a rather big loss this weekend. After looking like Juco quarterback Terry Wilson was close to being a Husker, he announced on Twitter Sunday afternoon that he had committed to Kentucky.
The development comes as a bit of a surprise for Husker fans, who thought Wilson was all but Scott Frost‘s to lose. It’s unclear whether Frost had decided to move one, possibly with Adrian Martinez, or whether Wilson thought better of coming to the Huskers.
Before Frost was hired, there had been talk that Terry Wilson would show some serious interest in Nebraska football if he was the head man. Less than a week later, the quarterback has decided he would rather go to the SEC.

Some people around the quarterback have said he might not have wanted to play in the Big Ten, though it’s not clear exactly why. Now that Wilson has decided he wants to play for the Wildcats, it’s a bit of a back to the drawing board for the new staff at the quarterback position.
Reports are that Martinez did enjoy his visit to Lincoln so the 2018 class could still have a talented quarterback as a part of it. The cupboard also isn’t bare if Frost and company can’t bring in another signal caller.
The question there, of course, is whether or not Tanner Lee, Patrick O’Brien or Tristan Gebbia are going to be able to run the same kind of offense Frost did at UCF. This certainly isn’t the worst thing to happen to the Nebraska football staff but it does put a bit of a chink in the armor when it comes to only positive news coming out of Lincoln since they arrived.
