Nebraska football: 2018 class shrinks again with Moore decommit
The Nebraska football team’s 2018 recruiting class now sits at seven commits
Sunday has likely not gone as planned for the Nebraska football team’s coaching staff. Just a few hours after potential quarterback target Terry Wilson announced he had committed to Kentucky, Jalen Knox announced he was sticking with Missouri.
Shortly after that, Scott Frost and company got their biggest blow of the day, as wide receiver Joshua Moore announced he was reopening his recruitment. The decommitment has seen the Huskers 2018 class shrink to seven and this is the second commit lost in the last 10 days for NU.
Mario Goodrich announced he was no longer committed to the Huskers a short while before Scott Frost was hired. It was hoped the relatively quick turnaround from when Mike Riley was fired, to bringing in the new coach would staunch the flow that was moving in the wrong direction.
Since the new staff has been in place, news on the recruiting front has been mostly positive. The Nebraska football staff just finished a pretty big visit weekend with several targets clearly enjoying their visit.
The good vibes stopped rather abruptly on Sunday afternoon. Wilson was always someone that was hard to read. While he seemed to be interested in NU and vice versa, he did not appear to have an offer on the table yet.
Wilson’s pledge to play at Kentucky appears to be him tiring of waiting as well as a desire to play in the SEC. Knox was a long shot to ever be a Husker.
The all-purpose back has been a commit to Missouri all along. Frost and company were looking to poach from the Tigers, but it didn’t work out.
Moore is the one that hurts, and for more reasons than the fact the class continues to contract. While the Husker 2018 recruiting class has been in a state of flux since Riley was let go, Joshua Moore came out with a tweet that seemed to indicate he was still strongly in the Nebraska football camp.
