Keyshawn Johnson took aim when it became clear the Nebraska football team was going to fire Mike Riley.

The Nebraska football team has had to deal with several people around the program voicing their displeasure at the firing of Mike Riley. One of the most prominent voices has been the father of one of the players, Keyshawn Johnson.

Keyshawn Johnson Jr. had been enrolled early and was hoping to play as a true freshman wide receiver. Then he got busted for possession of Marijuana.

The player’s father decided he should withdraw from school in order to fix his mistakes but the intent was for him to come back in January. Before and after Riley was fired, Johnson Sr. voiced his displeasure.

In one interview he even said his son was going to look for somewhere else to play. It appears that the former NFL player has changed his tune.

The USC alum, who played under Riley when Riley was an assistant for the Trojans is still not happy that his friend was fired, but according to Land of 10, he’s coming to grips. “I’d probably have given him another year, but if he’d gone 4-8 again, I’d run his ass out of town. I’d have run him out of town,” he told the publication.

While Riley wasn’t given that extra year, Johnson said that his son is still planning on coming back in the spring. Johnson has also previously gone on record as saying he’d be quite excited to see Scott Frost join the fold.

The reversal of what the former Pro-Bowler said shouldn’t be all that surprising. Keyshawn Johnson has long been someone that isn’t afraid to let his feeling from minute to the next be known. When he was a player, it caused some issues. As the father of a member of the Nebraska football team, it just raises an eyebrow here or there.
