The Syracuse football head coach Dino Babers could soon become more well known by Nebraska football fans.

With Mike Riley all but “destined” to be heading out the door after the season most Nebraska football fans are clamoring for Scott Frost. While the Central Florida coach has had two pretty good years for the Golden Knights, some of us are looking for a coach with a little more experience.

That is why Syracuse Orangemen head man Dino Babers could eventually find himself in the coaching carousel talk. Babers has rocketed into the national spotlight thanks to his upset victory over Clemson.

That victory has Syracuse football fans talking about needing to pay Babers in order to keep him at Syracuse. While the Orangemen are a Power Five conference team, it’s a safe bet the Huskers would be able to pay Babers more than Syracuse could hope to offer.

It’s not a surprise you’ve likely heard little about Dino Babers before now. His first season with the Orange was the kind of season that football program is used to, as they went just 4-8.

Despite another losing season, there is hope around that program for the first time in a while, thanks to a 4-3 start to 2017 and that big upset victory. Babers has been a winner wherever he’s gone.

Before coming to the Orangemen, he went 18-9 at Bowling Green, having a decent first season with the Eagles and a fantastic second season where he went 10-3. He left the school before they played their bowl game in order to come to Syracuse.

Before the MAC, Babers had a successful two year run with Eastern Illinois, leading them to the playoffs both years and reaching the quarterfinals in his final season there. While the coach is likely nowhere near the top of most Cornhusker fans wish lists, it’s hard to argue with his resume.
