It’s finally the bye week. A lot of Husker players need some time to heal up (Bryant, Kalu, and Pierson-El to name a few).

A lot of fans need some time to do the same after those two brutal night game losses. And there is another night game on the horizon once Big Red boards the plane to Purdue. in the meantime, let’s hope they can reboot.

On the bright side, there is a new Moos in town. I will have to credit Gary Sharp at 1620 the Zone for calling the Bill Moos hire and information the “Moos Lodge report.” Wish I had thought of that first. From what I’ve read about the new Husker Athletic Director I’m encouraged. He’s clearly a football guy and his contract incentives should be more than enough to motivate him to help bring the culture back to what former Huskers and fans both want to see.

What will you do with your extra time this weekend? I have a big “to do” list and I hope to tackle most of it while before I take advantage and watch other college games on tv. It’s never too early to scout the competition. Purdue plays at 11, Minnesota at 2:30 and Penn State at 6:30 pm. I’m thinking I may just graze on some of my favorites while Big Red rests up.

For my Husker bye week tailgate responsibilities, I also decided to pull out and reboot some of the favorites from previous weeks. I’ve included a link for the 2015 season Husker recipe recap. Some of the tastiest recipes in there are the Peanut Butter Brownies, Smoked mac n cheese, Black and Blue cheeseburgers, and Handy Husker Bread. The recipes for the Cosmo jello shot and the Bulldog (bourbon) smash jello shots are always requested. Those jello shots take a little extra effort but are definitely worth it in the end. Now if I could just get the players to adopt that strategy.

In the “spirit” of taking this week off, I’m not including any new drink recipes. I’ll save those for next week. I’ve had to go online to order some of the ingredients. PSA: not every store sells peach or cranberry jello.

It’s is an away night game where the Huskers will face the Purdue Boilermakers. I’ll have to come up with something tasty unless you have some ideas. If you do, you can hit me up on Twitter @Kelian_NE. I’m working on some southern yummies for the Northwestern game as well. Enjoy the break but be ready to cheer for the Cornhuskers when they come back home. In the meantime, GO BIG RED!
