The Nebraska football team may be hard at work preparing for spring practice, but the Big Red baseball team has taken the field for the first time.
Some nasty weather came through Tempe, Ariz. this weekend causing Nebraska’s series with UC-Riverside to bunch a doubleheader into Friday’s performance before washing Saturday and Sunday’s games out.
The Big Red split the series dropping the first game 4-3 thanks to four unearned runs following a Husker error. The Huskers would get revenge in the second game as Nebraska picked up four doubles. Big Red freshman pitcher Paul Tillotson sat 10 straight Highlanders down to begin his career before UC-Riverside’s Mark Contreras decked a one-out single.

Next up, Darin Erstad’s squad will take on Oregon State and Utah in Surprise, Ariz. from February 23-26. Hopefully sunny skies allow the Huskers to take home a few more wins.
