The next great Nebraska football quarterback recruit could come from anywhere. California, Florida, Texas or even Coeur d’Alene, Idaho.

In a city of 44,137, Colson Yankoff plays football and basketball for the Coeur d’Alene Vikings. It is his abilities on the football field that has — and will — gain him the interest of many colleges across the country.
He was once committed to the University of Oregon but de-committed last December. Since then, he’s added offers from Baylor, Oregon State, North Carolina and TCU. Those are in addition to the ones from Nebraska, Boise State, Tennessee and others. Once the world learns of Yankoff, his offers should increase quickly.
By then, it may be too late to get on the bandwagon.
As a junior, Yankoff completed 68 percent of his passes in 10 games amassing 3,129 yards and 27 touchdowns to six interceptions according to MaxPreps, an average output of 312.9 yards per game.
While he fits the bill as a passer, it’s the dual-threat capability that has gained him the offers he has and the ones yet to come.
In those same 10 games, he rushed for 968 yards and 26 touchdowns with three 100-plus yard efforts.
Considering he was previously committed to the Ducks, it’s not hard to understand why a team might be looking at him as a read option threat in addition to his usual quarterbacking skills.

Nebraska recently had a similar quarterback in Tommy Armstrong, but his throwing mechanics weren’t very polished and he struggled with his reads.
Yankoff, on the other hand, would come in with the skills that Riley and Langsdorf would’ve loved Armstrong to master.
Keep an eye on this young man tucked away in seemingly the middle of nowhere. He should blow up on the scene soon.
