The Nebraska football team rocketed near the top of the list of schools for running back recruit Jamari Peacock after his visit to Lincoln over the the weekend.

When people talk about Peacock being a big running back recruit, they aren’t just talking about the desire of schools to land him. The Yulee, Florida native is quite the bruiser at 5-11 and 245 pounds.

While he would like to be thought of as more of a ball carrier than a blocker, some recruiting services believe his future is at the fullback position. Rivals is one such service and they currently have him ranked as the fourth best fullback in the entire state of Florida.

On the other hand, 247 sports has him listed as a running back and he’s still among the best players in the state as he’s considered inside Florida’s top 100 players. It appears his measurables are quite a bit different depending on who you talk to, as they have him two inches taller and 20 pounds lighter.

Whoever you talk to, he’s a formidable mass coming at defenders, whether he’s carrying the ball or plowing the way. The player that leapt to my mind almost immediately when I saw Peacock was Imani Cross and it would certainly be nice to have another bruising back for short yardage situations in Mike Riley’s offense.

After his visit this weekend, Peacock talked to Rivals after his visit and was quite impressed with what Riley and his position coach had to say about his prospects for the Nebraska football team.

“I spent the most time with Coach Mike Riley and Coach Reggie Davis. They said they were probably only taking one running back this year and they really wanted it to be me. So that was pretty cool.”

Among the things that stood out to the senior to be was the amount of fans that came out. Peacock said it was likely the most fans he’d ever seen come to watch a camp. There was another recruit at the running back position in Nathan Tilford, but Riley and company are clearly not counting him as a high percentage get, considering he’s currently a commit to Arizona.

Peacock has said the Nebraska football team is right there with Louisville and Virginia when it comes to garnering his interest but he hasn’t yet said when he’s going to announce.
