Anthony Payne would love to get himself a Nebraska football scholarship offer after checking out Lincoln at the latest Friday Night Lights camp.

Whether or not that comes is still anyone’s guess, but Payne is someone who is rocketing up the recruiting rankings. Most of the Missouri defensive end’s offers have come from smaller schools such as Arkansas State.

The three-star recruit has been garnering quite a bit more attention after he attended a satellite camp for the Michigan Wolverines. Shortly after that attendance, he got an offer from the Wolverines which counts as the first power 5 conference scholly offer.

As he heads back to Peculiar, Missouri he doesn’t have an offer in his hand from Mike Riley and company but he expects the Nebraska football team to get back to him relatively soon.

“I feel like I did really well at the camp, especially during 1-on-1s,” he said. “I think I definitely stood out during that. Payne told 247 Sports after the camp was over. Payne added he felt as though he and his potential future coach Parella really hit it off.

The recruit also really loved the atmosphere and the facilities, but he also feels as though the other recruits, both those that have already committed and those who are still looking around were fun to hang out with.

That is of course, the point of these kinds of camps. The Huskers benefit especially when they bring in prospective commits to talk to the ones who have already pulled the trigger. It appears to be a good sign that someone who already has an offer from Jim Harbaugh is genuinely wanting an offer from MIke Riley as well.

Judging from the young man’s comments, there’s a chance the Nebraska football team would be the defensive end’s leader should he indeed hear back in the near future.
