1. Tommy Armstrong (QB)

While Armstrong is one of the most maligned Nebraska Cornhuskers on the team, there is very little doubt there are very few options behind him. Armstrong is not only the returning starter, but he’s a senior who has been a starter for several years now.

If Tommy can take the leaps and bounds that some believe he’s going to be able to make this season, he could be one of the best quarterbacks in the Big Ten. Even if he simply duplicates his numbers from a year ago, those are better numbers than we could ever hope to get from any of his backups.

Even if incoming freshman Patrick O’Brien turns out to be a wunderkind, it would seem unlikely he could take the Cornhuskers where they  want to go in 2016.
