Husker Football: Five Best Nebraska-Miami Clashes
Bruce Thorson-USA TODAY Sports
4) October 17, 1953 – Nebraska Cornhuskers 20, Miami Hurricanes 16
While the Huskers lost the first game in the series, it was Miami who took the ‘L’ in game number two.
This matchup completed a two-game series between the schools, and was played at Memorial Stadium in Lincoln.
Again, let’s let ‘The Cornhusker’ tell us about the game:
"“Nebraska scored first in the initial period on an 80-yard run by (Robert) Smith, again in the third on an eight-yard run by (John) Bordogna, and in the fourth on (Rex) Fisher’s five-yard jaunt.”"
This game was Nebraska’s first win of the 1953 season and is particularly notable as the Huskers only trotted out 15 players.
Obviously, most of them played both ways.
