5) November 30, 1951 – Miami Hurricanes 19, Nebraska Cornhuskers 7

The 1951 Nebraska football team wasn’t anything to call home about.

A 2-8 record for coach Bill Glassford’s Cornhuskers really didn’t see much in the way of highlights, but they did hang tough in Miami against the heavily-favored Hurricanes.

In the first matchup between the two schools, it was the Huskers who battled tough early, riding the ability of 1950 All-American Bobby Reynolds.

Let the 1951 edition of ‘The Cornhusker’, the University of Nebraska’s yearbook, paint the picture for you:

"“Nebraskans dared not think that the down-trodden Huskers, as a finale, could ever show the powerful Miami eleven a game of it. Soon not one spectator doubted the reasons why Bobby Reynolds was All-American in 1950.”"

Reynolds tallied 174 yards on 26 carries and notched the Huskers’ only touchdown of the game. That score gave Nebraska a 7-6 lead.

Sadly for the Big Red, Miami proved too good in the second half pushing the final tally to 19-7.
