My Bowl Picks
By Editorial Staff
I’ve given you all the preview you can handle on the 35 bowl games making up the 2010 season, now it is time for some picks to be thrown out there. I’ll keep this sticky for everybody to mock me throughout the entirety of the bowl season.
Catch you up on my preview extravaganza before I wow you with some serious prognostication (especially with the games that have already been played – not expecting to miss any of those)
- BYU over UTEP – W (BYU just scored again)
- Northern Illinois over Fresno St – W (UNI the huge minority pick despite being favorites)
- Ohio over Troy – L (you’ve screwed me again, Frank!)
- Louisville over Southern Miss – W (hooray, a good bowl)
- Boise St over Utah (very intrigued to see if Utah can make it a game)
- San Diego St over Navy (feel dirty for picking against our Naval academy – I’ll make up for it later)
- Hawaii over Tulsa (statistical disparity lies within the Tulsa pass defense)
- Toledo over Florida International (nobody from FIU wants to go to Detroit)
- Air Force over Georgia Tech (stats told me GT, gut tells me AFA)
- West Virginia over NC State (my petition for WV to replace UConn was denied)
- Missouri over Iowa (hate picking Pinkel but Iowa has lost 3 in a row and is too busy slangin’)
- Maryland over East Carolina (The Fridge was wrongfully accused)
- Illinois over Baylor (went with Ill. in this toss-up b/c of minority reports)
- Oklahoma St over Arizona (one of the easiest games to pick, which doesn’t always pan out)
- Army over SMU (probably my biggest upset pick)
- Syracuse over Kansas St (‘Cuse can stop the run)
- Tennessee over North Carolina (home field advantage)
- Nebraska over Washington (despite prior prediction, couldn’t go against the ‘Skers)
- South Florida over Clemson (USF always seems to display enormous talent in their bowl games)
- Notre Dame over Miami (Dame was quietly pretty good this year)
- Georgia over Central Florida (UGA frosh QB Aaron Murray will be first rounder someday)
- South Carolina over Florida St (SEC > ACC)
- Texas Tech over Northwestern (NW’s QB is hurt)
- Florida over Penn St (Urban’s last game)
- Alabama over Michigan St (all dependent on motivation)
- Mississippi St over Michigan (Bulldogs wanna prove their for real; Wolverines floundering)
- Wisconsin over TCU (last game I picked; this is TCU’s Super Bowl but Wis. might be best team in country)
- Oklahoma over UConn (the first game I picked)
- Virginia Tech over Stanford (might choose VT to win it all in a playoff format – would that be fair?)
- Ohio St over Arkansas (Tressel’s experience outweighed their shortcomings against the SEC)
- Middle Tennessee St over Miami (OH) (missing coach alert)
- Texas A&M over LSU (A&M is hot and LSU is overrated)
- Pitt over Kentucky (UK’s QB was suspended for boozing)
- Nevada over Boston College (Kaepernick just enough against the #1 run defense in the country)
- Auburn over Oregon (Tigers surging, Ducks sliding)
Take exception to any of these picks??? Let me know in the comments which pick you disagree with most….
